Helping Children

Our children are amazingly resilient, but domestic violence and sexual assault always leaves a mark, whether physical or emotional. When children who have witnessed domestic violence come to the emergency shelter with their parent, they often come affected by what they have witnessed. Most children thrive in the shelter because they quickly see and feel that it is a place where they are safe.

CODA’s Children’s Advocate assess each child who enters the shelter with a parent. Children are referred to appropriate agencies as necessary.
